Mark Shamp
President and Founder
A U.S. Navy veteran and Bowling Green resident, Mark established Angels in Arms in 2020 to fill a gap in providing assistance to local veterans, law enforcement and first responders in need. Originally started out of his home, Mark relocated our growing operations to the Woodland Mall and now online to better support our heroes.

Jennifer Horak
Vice President
Jen has served as vice president of Angels in Arms since 2023. A Bowling Green native, she works as an employment services representative for Wood County Job & Family Services. She comes from a family of veterans and is passionate about giving back to the vets of our community.

Liz Sworden
Secretary
Liz has been Angels in Arms’ secretary since the beginning. She has many family members and friends that have served our country and surrounding communities, and is humbled to play a role in helping our local vets. Liz also volunteers with other organizations, works full time at BioFit, and manages the BG Pedal Company.

Margie Stewart
Treasurer
Margie moved to Bowling Green from Pittsburgh as a child in the early ‘60s. She has veterans from many service branches on both sides of her family, including those of the WWII-era U.S. Army Air Corps, as well as the Army, Navy and Air Force. She retired as a cashier from the BGSU Student Union, and bookkeeping is her jam!

Marylou Shamp
Communications Specialist/
Events Planner
Along with her sister Margie, our treasurer(!) and their family, Marylou relocated to Bowling Green from Pittsburgh as a child, and is married to our president, Mark. She retired after a 30+ year career at BGSU, and is passionate about planning events and blasting out communications in support of our local vets and first responders.

Chad Smith
Communications Specialist
Chad proudly served in the U.S. Army for 14 years, pulling tours in Germany and stateside, including 8 years in Texas. He moved back to Ohio upon separation, where he met his wife (and our social media guru), Ana. Chad has been a vital member of our team since 2023, and excels at leading networking and fundraising opportunities for those we serve.

Ana Smith
Social Media Communications
Ana administers our social media arm, and her expertise is instrumental in sharing our story with prospective backers and beneficiaries alike. In addition to her husband Chad, both of Ana’s grandfathers and an uncle also served our country. In her “day job,” she supports those struggling with addiction, substance abuse and mental health challenges.
